Jewellery worth USD 1.4 million due to be loaned to stars at the Cannes Film Festival was stolen from a local hotel in a pre-dawn heist on Friday but the coveted Palme d\'Or trophy was safe, officials said.

Ancient fossil named after actor Johnny Depp

An ancient extinct creature with scissor-like claws, newly-discovered in fossil records, has been named after movie star Johnny Depp.
The 505-million-year-old fossil called Kooteninchela deppi is a distant ancestor of lobsters and scorpions. Kooteninchela deppi lived in very shallow seas, similar to modern coastal environments, off the cost of British Columbia in Canada, which was situated much closer to the equator 500 million years ago.

Spot fixing rot runs much deeper and wider, more players under scanner

After the confession of Sreesanth and two other Rajasthan Royal (RR) players in the IPL spot- fixing scandal, the investigators believe that the rot could be much deeper and wider.
